How Laser Hair Removal Works

In order to obtain permanent results and stop the hair from growing back we at Rejuvenaids use advanced technology to destroy the papilla – the nutrition source of the hair.

During treatment, our PRIMELASE laser emits a pulse of light energy that travels through the skin and targets the melanin in the hair follicle. The laser heats the follicle and destroys the root, successfully cutting off the hair’s nutrient source. Once the damage is done, the follicle cannot produce hair.

Why we need multiple session for hair reduction?

The reason behind requirement of multiple sessions of laser treatments to achieve complete hair reduction is based scientifically on hair growth cycle. Laser hair reduction is only effective during a specific growth stage of hair called the anagen phase. Hence, we require multiple session of treatment, as different hairs are growing through different stage of growth cycle. Hair growth cycle occurs in three stages: the anagen phase, the catagen phase, and the telogen phase. The anagen phase, also known as the active growth stage. It is the only stage in which laser hair reduction is most effective. During this phase root of the hair is attached to the hair papilla which is main target for laser machines. The catagen phase, also known as the transition phase, is when the hair follicle detaches from the papilla, cutting off the nurturing blood supply. The telogen phase, also known as the resting phase, is when the old hair sheds and new hair begins to form. Thus, starting the cycle all over again. Because hair grows at different rates, it’s not possible to treat each hair during its anagen phase. That is why every patient needs multiple treatments. It’s a triple wave length machine consisting of Alexandraite laser 755nm, Diode 810nm and NdYag 1064nm. It targets the melanin content at 3 different levels therefore, it acts on villus and terminal hair at the same time.

For long lasting result 8-10 sittings are required at an interval of 1.5 month to 2 months depending on the hair growth and target area.

The visible effect of a laser hair reduction if done properly with right machine starts from the 1st sitting itself.  Thickness of hair start reducing from first session and the time interval in between 2 sitting also keep on increasing with each subsequent session. Though the appreciable results in form of reduction in density is appreciated after 4 to 5 sittings at least .

Hair in androgen dependent areas are directly affected by the excess of hormones on both serum and tissue levels. Excessive acne, hair fall, obesity and irregular menstruation are clinical signs of hormonal imbalance . The patient is made to change into a disposable gown and the target area is shaved using a disposable razor. The target area is marked depending on the thickness and density of hair growth. A cold jelly is applied before shots of lasers are given. The jelly is wiped off and cold compression is done. A layer of moisturizer and sunscreen is applied after completion of procedure.

No, there is no requirement for numbing cream as the process is fairly comfortable with minimum discomfort. However, if the patient has low pain threshold, numbing cream can be applied on sensitive areas like bikini and upper lips.

It is applied for around 45-60 minutes before start of procedure.

This procedure is absolutely safe, if done with US-FDA machine under guidance of qualified dermatologist.
